I am a Kingstonian and part of the Queen's community, living, working and raising a happy family that appreciates the beauty and fragility of our environment . A self taught photographer, I am constantly learning and improving my knowledge and skills from different media, peers and courses, to better represent my artistic expressions through my lens and camera. I merge the richness of my East Indian heritage, influences from my extensive travels and the essence of my Canadian identity into my visual representations.

Having worked in ceramics for many years I have now switched to chalk pastel on paper and some of the ceramic work I made or have collected has now become subject matter for still life. The chalk pastels, made of pigments and binders, have qualities that are reminiscent of the pigments and clays that I once incorporated in my ceramic work and feel satisfyingly familiar to me. Whether wrestling with form or composition, the process I follow seems continuous and endlessly challenging.

I enjoy watching the grain of a newly planed piece of wood unfold. That discovery leads to so many potential projects, matching that grain in a form to enhance both the appearance and the functionality in a unique design. Although some unique commission pieces may hold an interest I am turning more to being guided by the wood, trying to figure out how to capture and present the attributes of the boards that pass through my planer. Only by removing the weathered covering of time darkened edges does the beauty of the wood appear. At that time the potential forms appear as to what this board may ultimately become.
