KAC Job Posting

CKAF Assistant

This Part-time staff person (15 hrs per week) is knowledgeable about the arts community in Kingston and works primarily with the Grants Director in the organization and administration of the City of Kingston Arts Fund.

 

The CKAF Assistant is responsible for:

  • assisting with the development of the Plan for Administration of the City of Kingston Arts Fund
  • developing grant application forms, guidelines and procedural instructions for distribution to applicants
  • preparing CKAF media releases and drafting newsletter articles related to CKAF  announcements
  • numbering and tracking all applications
  • assisting with the organization and presentation of information sessions for prospective applicants and explaining the CKAF process to them
  • assisting with the coordination and scheduling of the Grants Peer Assessment Committees (Grants Committee)
  • compiling and distributing application packages to Grants Committee members
  • providing information and support as required to Grants Committee members
  • liaising with and/or acting as a resource person for grant applicants
  • liaising with Grants Committee members and/or acting as a resource person to the Grants Committee when it is in session
  • receiving grantees’ reports and tracking projects’ status
  • developing and maintaining an accurate and useful grants database
  • maintaining and revising ancillary CKAF office forms and procedures
  • preparing press releases and drafting newsletter articles related to announcement of CKAF grants
  • performing other tasks related to grants administration as required
  • performing other tasks that assist the KAC Executive Director and staff in the work of the Kingston Arts Council. 

Skills required:

  • Non-profit and/or volunteer organization background with event-planning/program delivery and/or grant writing experience
  • Effective writing and presentation skills
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Enthusiasm for working with Kingston'’s arts community
  • Ability and maturity to multi-task; e.g. solve problems, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills e.g. ability to take instruction and work cooperatively
  • Appropriate academic credentials and experience in a related field

Funding for this position is dependent on the annual agreement with the City of Kingston that engages the KAC to administer the City of Kingston Arts Fund.
