Art at Rideau - Workshop Opportunity

ARTVENTURE 2010

Art @ Rideau P.S.

January/February/March 2010

For the past three years, the Parent Council, teachers and Kingston area Artists have organized the 'Art Experience' – a series of arts workshops at Rideau P.S.  This program provides all Rideau students with opportunities to experience and participate in a broad range of visual and performing arts projects while interacting with members of the Kingston arts community.  Past workshops have included Drama, Belly Dancing, Musical Performance, Papermaking, Papier Maché Sculpture, Weaving, Animation, Ink Drawing and Conceptual Sculpture.

Last year's workshops culminated in Rideau's first annual ARTVENTURE Spring Arts Festival and Visual Arts Show featuring live Performance, Creative Art Workshops, BBQ, Face Painting, Buskers, Used Book Sale and Artists' Marketplace.

The kids LOVE these workshops and are very proud of the work they create

Rideau Parent Council invites interested artists, artisans and educators from all Visual and Performing Arts disciplines to create and implement workshops that will enhance our student's arts education and exposure to the Kingston arts community.  Work created or documented throughout the winter sessions will be showcased at our second annual ARTVENTURE in Spring 2010.

Interested in participating or know someone who may be?

We need you!

Workshops must contain an educational element and can be geared towards grade groups K-1, 2-4, 5/6 and/or 7/8. Two hour workshops will be scheduled each Tuesday, beginning in February. Classroom and gym space will be available for these activities.

Contact Catherine Styles at brodiegirl8@cogeco.ca  for more information and to discuss project ideas, honorariums and logistics.
