Ask your eight to twelve year old child, neighbour or student, and chances are they will have read at least one
book by Eric Walters. Working with his friends and fellow authors Shane Peacock, Norah McClintock, Richard
Scrimger, Sigmund Brouwer, John Wilson and Ted Staunton, and stellar Canadian publisher Orca Books, he has
spearheaded the creation of a new children’s novel series, Seven.

Six of the authors (all but Norah McClintock) are traveling together to seven Ontario cities on a special
promotion tour, and will be in Kingston on Wednesday, October 24.

“Each of the authors will be visiting a local school in the morning, and they have generously agreed to come
together for a very special gala event that evening to meet with their fans from across the City,” said Kimberly
Sutherland Mills, Manager of Programming and Outreach at the Kingston Frontenac Public Library. “This is a
rare opportunity for children to meet their favourite authors, and to celebrate in style.”

The Seven Authors Gala, hosted by the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, is offered free of charge to children
ages ten and up. Space is limited, so registration is required and opens on Saturday, October 13 th.

Beginning at 7:00 pm, the authors will each regale the crowd with stories about their lives as writers
and teasers from their new novels. Afterward, children will be able to mingle with the authors, enjoying
refreshments and collecting autographs. Local bookstore Novel Idea will be on hand to sell copies of the
authors’ books.
