Silk painting is very versatile. You can create paintings as well as create wearable and decorative art. This class will be geared towards quilters who may want to incorporate their art into their quits. You will be able to take home many painted squares which you can use to make a small quilt. Students will work on various representational designs as well as very abstract ones mainly playing with colour effects. The techniques taught will involve silk paints as well as silk dyes, use of resists, batik and shibori. Same techniques can be easily used for any other decorative items. No experience is necessary, it is the colour that will make it happen!!! My passion is painting on silk. The immediacy and spontaneity that come into play when painting on silk takes me into moments when nothing else matters but art. Teaching is my prime interest. I do exhibit my art frequently, however so far I have not done it for commercial reasons. My life has taken me to many parts of the world. I have taught in several international schools and travelled extensively around the world. Upon returning to Canada in 2003 I started to teach silk painting and I continue to pursue studies in mixed media. I am currently a member of Ottawa Mixed Media Artists. I teach workshops and a more extensive course at the Algonquin College Department of Part Time Studies in Ottawa and 1000 Islands Summer School of the Arts at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario.
