Students will be introduced to the theories and practices of abstract expressionism as developed in the 1950's and 60's by a group of painters who included Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, and Williem Dekooning in the U.S and Harold Town, Jack Bush, and the painters eleven here at home. Come and discover new approaches, and explore some of the thoughts which have shaped the past fifty years of art history. Students will, through practical application of various working methods, create their own paintings, exploring the landscape, figure and still life traditions. All media are welcome, and all artists are encouraged to come and experience the world of the abstract expressionists.
