Smoke Firing and Terra Sigllata, 1000 Islands Summer School of the Arts

Designed for those who are interested in clay with a little or a lot of experience. Learn to polish, burnish and decorate clay using different techniques before smoke firing them with various materials. Participants should bring 10-15 very smooth bone dry 5-10 leather hard pieces, ready to be polished and decorated. Pieces can be sculptures, hand built or wheel thrown. Lyse Fleury, a graduate of the Université du Québec à Montréal, brings many years of clay/pottery experience to Summer Arts Program. She has been teaching for many years and she has had many solo exhibitions and received numerous awards for her unique pieces.
