Buckhorn Fine Art Festival

Featuring the art of more than 75 Canadian artits, the award-winning Buckhorn Fine Art Festival always inspires visitors to linger longer to experience demonstrations and special presentations by the artists themselves, and performances from a variety of accomplished musicians. This year, a special 35th anniversary commemorative exhibit will feature 35 works of art from Buckhorn Fine Art Festival alumni. The Festival also includes an amateur art competition, a youth art display, and interactive art activities for children of all ages, all in a picturesque woodland setting. The 35th Anniversary Preview Night (Friday August 17 from 7 to 10 pm) promises a number of exclusive experiences, and provides each patron with an intimate opportunity to be the first to view the artists’ new works, enjoy fine hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and interact with the artists. The theme "Canadian Journeys" reflects the impact of the Canoe on the exploration and development of Canada, and, ultimately, on Canadian art. Canadian Canoe Museum staff will be on site at the Festival to talk about their programs and events, and a display will feature one of their historic canoes, ongoing artisan demonstrations, as well as a selection of locally-made artisan goods from their gift shop for sale. Half of the proceeds of ticket sales of this year’s opening night gala will go to the Peterborough-based museum.
