Everyday the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada helps thousands of musicians. It is the largest organization in the world representing the interests of professional musicians. Whether negotiating fair agreements, protecting ownership of recorded music, securing benefits such as health care and pension, or lobbying our legislators, the AFM is committed to raising industry standards and placing the professional musician in the foreground of the cultural landscape.

The American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada, unites professional musicians through our Locals so that:
Musicians can live and work in dignity;
Musicians work will be fulfilling and compensated fairly;
Musicians will have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect them;
Musicians will have the opportunity to develop their talents and skills;
Musicians collective voice and power will be realized in a democratic and progressive union;
Musicians can oppose the forces of exploitation through union solidarity.

KMU represents professional musicians throughout the folllowing counties: Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox, Addington, Frontenac, Peterborough, Northumberland, Victoria, Haliburton and a portion of Durham County , and Gananoque in Leeds County.
