Call to Youth Writers
TRAVEL TO CUBA β ALL EXPENSES PAID
Che Guevara Brigage: Scholarship Available
In the middle of the craziness of mid-terms and reading week, Kingston youth, aged 18 to 25 might want to take on one more assignment.
A 1000-word essay could land them an all-expenses paid trip to Cuba, to take part in the Che Guevara Brigade 2008.
The three-week Brigade enables Canadian residents to experience Cuba in a way that no all-inclusive resort could offer. Alongside Cubans, Brigade Volunteers work in the agricultural and construction sectors. They participate in cultural, social, economic and political encounters.
Essays on the theme βThe Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade to Cuba β opportunity of a lifetime,β must be submitted to CCFA Kingston by February 23rd, 2008.
Judges will be looking for a genuine interest in Cuba and a sincere desire to learn more about Cuban realities. As well, the winner will be expected to share some of their insights and experiences with the community upon returning to Canada. The winner will be chosen on March 1st, 2008.
